life is an experiment and control is an illusion

life is an experiment and control is an illusion ~

Welcome.

If you're finding yourself feeling resentful because you hold yourself to the highest standards and no one around you seems to notice or care, and your perfectionism and People-pleaser behaviors are finally starting to exhaust you, take a deep breath. There is hope for change and we can get there together.

Maybe your feelings are either taking over constantly, causing you to make decisions at the moment that you regret later, or you can’t remember the last time someone asked you how you felt and actually cared about the answer.

It may be that whenever you try to communicate your needs, your voice somehow gets stuffed down because someone else has something important come up at the moment. Sometimes it has been stuffed down so many times that eventually, you explode in a display of frustration that you may feel embarrassed about later. It feels like the way life just is, but something inside of you knows that’s not true and there’s another option out there.

You distance yourself from your own experience in your body without even meaning to, it’s just what happens after that one bad experience. At work, there are so many questions floating around in your head about your competency and your calling, even though you know logically that you’re doing great and you were made for this, all the voices both in your head and in your experience have told you that you aren’t really qualified. Your family of origin issues keep popping up even though you’ve been to talk therapy about these relationships for years.

Stop the suffering. Heal the trauma that has been stuck in your body for far too long.

I work with women who have experienced sexual Trauma or bad relationships, Health Issues, Women In Church Leadership, or have issues from Childhood.

(Or all of the above)

Before working with me many of my clients say:

  • “I feel stuck on that one day. It’s like I can’t get out of it.”

  • "The past doesn’t feel like it’s in the past, it feels like it is happening right now, all over again."

  • "Why do I feel so anxious over something so small?"

  • “I cannot drive past that place without shaking.”

  • "Why do I keep falling into the same situations over and over?"

  • "I have so many tears and so much anger, even though what happened was years ago."

  • “This is just the way it is, what can I do about it?”

If these phrases feel familiar, it may be that your body is responding to threat.

Therapy can help.

I specialize in trauma-informed care including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Somatic Integration and Processing, and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy). I also use other trauma-informed modalities as needed to help clients begin to see their situation through a different lens. They can begin to feel that there are options and choices for them.

EMDR is a type of therapy that allows us to process trauma in a condensed format. I have found that to utilize this best, taking one large chunk of time to work through a traumatic event (or events) is extremely powerful and can be life-changing.

In-person and telehealth sessions are available in the state of Arizona. The in-person sessions are available on Wednesdays & Fridays in the Arcadia area of Phoenix.
